Microblading FAQ
What is microblading?
Short Answer: The best innovation in beauty, since foundation & concealers!
Long answer: Eyebrow Microblading is the meticulous artistry of constructing or reconstructing the perfect pair of eyebrows with the use of a special, pen-like instrument containing fine needles that are three times thinner than regular tattoo needles. This instrument is used to gently deposit a special pigment into the basal layer of the epidermis, to create crisp, hyper realistic, hair-like strokes that are virtually indistinguishable from real hair and is a semi-permanent solution.
Shape & size of the eyebrows are determined based on the mathematical assessment of each unique face. With the use of these precise individual measurements, you can achieve symmetry; a process designed to help each person achieve their best face. This mathematical process is called “The Golden Ratio.” This ratio is considered to be architecturally & artistically, the most beautiful in nature. Unlike eyebrow tattooing, with Microblading, there is never any “spilling” of ink under the skin, so your brows remain beautifully in tact and only require annual touch ups.

How long does microblading take?
The entire microblading process can take as little as 20-45 minutes, depending on skin type and any grooming preparation you require, or if there is any corrective work being done. However, please plan to stay for up to two hours for paper work, care instructions and a consultation, etc.
Is microblading painful?
Yes, since Microblading is a form of tattooing, so there is some discomfort but nowhere near as much as a tattooing procedure would. To provide some relief, we do use a topical numbing agent to reduce any discomfort that comes with the procedure. Once the skin is ready, we begin the Microblading process.
How long is the recovery time?
There is no downtime associated with microblading; clients can resume regular activities immediately. Initially, the color will be intense, but will lighten over the following 1 to 2 weeks.
How long does microblading last? Will they fade?
Microblading is a semi-permanent solution, so your new brows will fade over time. However, how quickly they fade will depend on each person’s skin type, lifestyle, and environment. The results can last up to a year before requiring any touch-up depending on your skin’s life cycle and other factors, such as lifestyle, daily sun exposure, skin type, and skincare routine. Due to the semi-permanent nature of this service, we recommend a touch-up at least once per year to retain the shape and crisp appearance of the deposited pigments.

How do you choose a shape?
We choose a shape together, according to your face structure and personal preference. At Boston Brow Studio, every client’s eyebrows are carefully tailored to their unique face, ensuring symmetry and their most flattering brows ever. Our clients have one thing in common: the desire to “wake up and go!” The Boston Brow Studio promise is to give every client the eyebrows of their dreams, so we work with you to achieve your desired shape and thickness, even if it falls slightly outside our professional recommendation. There is no “pick-a-brow chart” to stress over because brow shapes are determined based on the science of achieving your most beautiful face.
Can I have this procedure done while I'm pregnant?
Unfortunately, no. But we will be right here waiting to give you your dream brows right after baby has arrived and the nursing period has ended! In the meantime, we can still keep your brows looking their best, with our brow grooming services.
What is the difference between eyebrow tattooing and eyebrow microblading?
The first and most important difference is that the results of microblading are far more natural than those of tattooing. Unlike tattooing, the microblading procedure does not involve the use of a machine. Instead, it is performed using a special pen-like instrument containing fine needles three times thinner than a regular tattoo needle. Tattoos become green after a while. Microblading does not. Pigments are gently deposited into the basal layer of the epidermis, resulting in crisp, hyper-realistic, hair-like strokes that are virtually indistinguishable from real hair. Unlike eyebrow tattoos, with microblading, there is never any “spilling” of ink under the skin, so your brows remain beautifully intact and only require annual touch-ups! Lastly, there is far more pain involved in tattooing than there is in microblading, which easily makes microblading the smarter/better choice.
Will I still have to keep up with waxing, tweezing, threading, etc.?
Yes! You will need to maintain your brow hair just as you would have prior to the procedure, as it is not a hair removal service. If you need help, we offer great brow grooming services to help you maintain your beautiful new brows!
Am I a candidate for microblading?
Microblading is ideal for anyone wanting to achieve that highly sought after, full, youthful-looking, beautiful brows, or those simply wanting to enhance the look of their natural brows and enjoy a truly hassle-free, “wake up and go” daily experience everyday! This solution is also great for anyone suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania or any other condition that causes hair loss, or someone who simply never grew much eyebrows to begin with. Unfortunately, you are not a suitable candidate for the Microblading procedure if any of the following applies to you:
